| The Artificial Intelligence Working Group of the Education Committee of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) is proud to announce its 'Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI Tools in Assessment' published on 5 September 2026. Moderators, examiners, and conveners alike who wish to use Generative AI for assessment purposes are encouraged to consult these living guidelines, which are available here to all members of the public. Users of Learn@CMSA and Examine@CMSA will also be able to access the guidelines, which will be updated annually or more regularly, as needed. | |

| In 2025, the inclusion of AI policies became compulsory for all SciELO SA journals. Authors using AI-assisted technology must disclose their use in manuscripts to ensure transparency, accuracy, and trust. Guidance is available in the Plagiarism, Fabrication and Artificial Intelligence Policy page and the Submission Guidelines under 'AI-assisted technologies' in the formatting requirements.
